Dr. Martin Slome, DVM | Lead Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. Martin Slome graduated from Veterinary School in Pretoria, South Africa in June 1990. He gained his first veterinary experience in South Africa at the Police Veterinary Section in Durban as a veterinary medical officer, as part of his mandatory military service. Following his national service, he became the manager and veterinarian in charge of two veterinary hospitals for four years before immigrating to North America in 1995. From there, Dr. Slome moved to Florida and spent a year working in a specialty veterinary dental practice before moving to Toronto, where he joined an animal hospital in the Bloor West Village. A year later, he opened Centre Street Animal Hospital and has never looked back. Dr. Slome is fortunate enough to have a family of animal lovers with his wife, Michelle, and their 2 boys, Ethan and Adam, fussing over their pets – Skye, a Balinese cat, and Toffee, a mixed breed rescue dog.

Dr. Kineret Aloni-Goldman BSc, DVM | Veterinarian

Ever since she can remember, Dr. Goldman wanted to be a veterinarian. While growing up, she was actively involved in rehabilitating stray dogs and helping them find their forever homes. Dr. Goldman earned her veterinary degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University. Before joining Centre Street Animal Hospital, she worked at several hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area and also currently works as a surgeon and shelter veterinarian for Toronto Animal Services. Her professional interests include surgery, internal medicine, preventative medicine and geriatrics. When not in the clinic, Dr. Goldman enjoys spending time with her family. She lives in North York with her husband, three kids, and their rescue dog named Roy. Outside of work, Dr. Goldman enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Laura Teeger, DVM | Veterinarian

Dr. Laura Teeger, DVM completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, before heading to vet school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. She completed her clinical training in Indiana, and worked at a small animal clinic in Buffalo shortly after graduating. Although she enjoyed her time living in Guelph, the Caribbean and the United States, Dr T (as we fondly call her) is happy to finally be back home in Thornhill. Her professional interests include surgery, dentistry, and exotic mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, gaming, and snuggling with her cat, Po.

Danya | Registered Veterinary Technician & Office Manager

Currently on extended maternity leave and happy to report that she is doing well (but we miss her!) We first met Danya when she came to Centre Street Animal Hospital at 11 years old, as a client with her very first kitten! Danya and her family are proud owners of two senior cats (14 and 18 years old), and this love of animals is what took Danya to the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College. Over the years her relationship with the hospital has grown, and we were thrilled to see her come full circle in the summer of 2011 as she graduated from school and joined us as a part of the CSAH team! She is jokingly referred to as the ‘office computer’ due to her knowledge of the day-to-day happenings of the hospital. On top of cuddling with her wonderful cats, Danya also enjoys tap dancing, baking and was recently married!

Roy | Registered Veterinary Technician

Roy started working for Centre Street Animal Hospital in the summer of 2005 after graduating with honors from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College. He has always had a passion for working with animals of all sizes, from cows and horses to snakes and lovebirds. He has a special interest in the veterinary emergency field where the fast pace keeps him on his toes for new advancements in animal medicine. Roy counts Corn Snakes and a variety of Rodents amongst his menagerie (the rodents aren’t too happy about this though!).

Sue | Registered Veterinary Technician

Sue, one of our Registered Veterinary Technician has one husband, 3 cats and a dog. Though she’s a bit camera shy (prefers to share photos of her fur-baby Griffy) she has over 20 years experience in the veterinary field. Sue graduated from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician Program in 2005 and worked in animal emergency medical care for a very long time. She is known as our ‘Cat Whisper’ and is excited to be working at Centre Street Animal Hospital.

Abbie | Registered Veterinary Technician

Abbie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in 2021 and joined our team shortly after. She has always loved animals and grew up taking care of dogs, turtles, fish, and birds. She currently has a canary named Lemon and a betta fish named Patrick.

Amanda | Veterinary Assistant

After graduating from Sheridan College’s Animal Care program, Amanda joined the team at Centre Street Animal Hospital in the Spring of 2018. In 2007 Amanda started her own business ‘Doggy Day Care’, geared at walking, feeding, boarding (and of course giving lots of love to) dogs. Clients lauded her passion and responsibility, and as such her business grew rapidly. This is when Amanda resolved that her future would always involve working with animals. Amanda enjoys the hands-on aspect of working with our cherished pets, and takes great pride in the ability to help with their care and keep them comfortable and happy!

Samantha | Client Care Specialist

Samantha has been working in the veterinary industry since 2001. Prior to joining Centre Street Animal Hospital, she helped manage a veterinary clinic in Trinidad and Tobago as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. Although her recent move to Canada forced her to leave her two dogs Josey and Belle with relatives, she has “adopted” every pet patient that visits us at the clinic as her own.

Jasmine | Client Care Specialist

Jasmine is a single mom of 2 boys, and 2 feline fur babies. She has always had a love for animals, bringing strays home and taming feral cats when she was a kid. Jasmine knew she wanted to enter the field of animal medicine after volunteering with the Ottawa Humane Society for 2 and a half years. She moved to Toronto in 2017 and began working in a sales position, but knew her true love was working with animals. We are thrilled to have Jasmine join our front desk team and help her fulfill her dream of being around animals and their owners, and learning about the world of animal health care.

Stephanie | Client Care Specialist

Stephanie joined us as a client care rep at the end of 2020. She grew up surrounded by dogs, but now loves coming home to her two cats, Cheese & Chia. She enjoys hiking on the weekend and volunteering with rescue groups to help transport animals to their foster homes.

Sinéad | Reception/Animal care Attendant

Sinéad just started working at Centre Street in July 2021, after finally receiving her permanent residency! She is planning to study Animal Care in the future, but is gaining lots of experience with us here in the meantime. Originally from Ireland, she has a love of animals and you can rest assured your pet will get plenty of cuddles when she’s around. She has mastered holding an animal and answering the phone at the same time! During her free time she can most often be found cycling on the trails nearby, and daydreaming about her future pets!
